Meet the Pastor
Hello! I am the Rev. Cynthia C. Nickerson, pastor appointed to the Hillsboro United
Methodist church July 1st 2010 by Bishop Peter Weaver of the New England Conference
United Methodist Conference. I am delighted to be with this church family and the church
family of the Munsonville United Methodist Church. I prefer to be called " Pastor Cindy".
I am a New Hampshire native (Franklin ) but grew up in Berwick Maine where my parents
continue to live. I attended the University of Maine in Orono and graduated with a degree
in Early Childhood development and Elementary Education. I taught in private and public
schools in So. New Hampshire for 17 years.
The pastoral ministry is my second profession as I discerned the call as an active member
of the Epping Community Church almost 20 years ago. I received my Master's of Divinity
from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in 1999. I was ordained an Elder in the New
England conference of the UMC in 2002. I have completed my 16th year of ministry having
served churches in Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Maine. My most recent appointment
was to Corinth UMC in Corinth, Maine for six years. The blessings of this ministry
relationship were in the areas of Children's Ministry, Lay Leader Development, and Pastoral
care and encouragement.
I love to preach God's Word and encourage God's people to live in faithfulness and the power
of God's word. I have a passion for mission work locally and internationally especially when
that work is with children and older adults. I have led mission teams to Red Bird Mission in
Kentucky and Nicaragua. I believe Christian faith is most evident and experienced when it is
lived outside the walls of the church.
Moving to Hillsboro allows me to be closer to my family and lifelong friends. I have two adult
children. My daughter Michelle is a High School music teacher and lives in the area and my
son is a firefighter closer to the seacoast. My interests include walking, perennial gardening,
being with children, and spending time at my summer cottage at the Hedding Camp Meeting
in Epping, NH.
I look forward to meeting many of you who read this and hope if you do not already have a
church home you would attend worship and /or an activity at Hillsboro UMC and consider
making us your church home.
God Bless You
Pastor Cindy
